Waste and Recycling Management Assessment

  • Waste and Recycling Management Baseline Report
  • Waste Composition Study Report
  • Waste Management Policy Review

Aviation consultants at AVCON, Inc. performed nine tasks in developing the sustainability plan for Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fourth task, assessing the current state of sustainability at SJU, included a waste management subtask. For that, AVCON brought in ecoPreserve to complete a waste composition study. That assignment included documentation of the baseline and providing waste management goals to include in SJU’s Airport Sustainability Plan.

During their onsite work at SJU, the ecoPreserve team researched the local infrastructure and conducted observations. They later compiled their findings into a comprehensive Waste and Recycling and Management Assessment Report. The report included results of a waste management policy review and an assessment of the regulatory landscape. It also documented recommendations, including a Green Team that would serve as a catalyst for actions consistent with eleven best practices of waste management. With those, ecoPreserve also identified future environmental initiatives consistent with SJU airport sustainability goals.
