ecoPreserve is contracting with WSP to support a Denver, Colorado Regional Transportation District (RTD) environmental initiative. This ongoing work is an essential part of RTD’s planned adaptation of its fleet and facilities to low—and zero-emission fuels.
Within this project, ecoPreserve has developed the Emissions Report based on utility data from RTD and emission factors from Xcel Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The report documents an estimate of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and outlines strategies to reduce emissions across 19 bus, rail, public, and administrative facilities. Those facilities — totaling over two million square feet — produce 30,000 tons of CO2e each year.
Site assessments were conducted at all 19 facilities in preparation for the emissions report. That analysis found that energy-efficient equipment, processes, and operational practices had significant potential for reducing emissions. Those findings are being used to inform RTD’s path to net zero emissions by 2050.
