City of Orlando
Tennis Center – LEED BD+C Certification
Administration of USGBC LEED v4 Building Design and Construction (BD+C) certification
Ongoing recommendations and reporting as further LEED credits are earned
Consistent with Orlando’s long-established Community Sustainability Action Plan, the city leaders have committed to earning Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for all new civic buildings. The design of Orlando’s relocated Tennis Centre must continue the city’s environmental legacy.
An initial charrette, led by ecoPreserve, brainstormed the integrated design, reviewed project expectations, and explored strategies to achieve the City’s sustainable design goals.
As LEED certification progresses, ecoPreserve guides, facilitates, and documents any environmental achievements seen in the building design and during construction. The facility is being landscaped with water-conserving native plants. EV chargers and ample accommodation for bicycles are being installed. Ongoing reporting documents the best practices and identifies any potential savings.
Certified green buildings trim operational costs. In earning LEED credits, the Tennis Centre facilities minimize energy and water expense while occupant wellness and comfort is enhanced. Optimized Solid Waste Management is limiting landfill waste. That also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
